Chamber of Public Secrets

Media Art Research Center

Media Art Research Center (MARC) is CPS’ research-based, media art production and exhibition space.

Focus
The event-driven space is dedicated to innovative visual content, collaborative projects, and educational endeavors. MARC’s mandate is to develop and promote aesthetical experiences related to human history. It bridges and nurtures the relationship between cultural institutions and the public byways of collaborating with artists from Europe, Turkey, and the Arab world.

Activities
MARC uses contemporary visual art and culture as catalysts for social growth and exchange through screening programs, showcasing, workshops, courses, production, publications, public fora and lectures. MARC also offers online tutoring (remote tuition) and consultancy where artists and art filmmakers can discuss their projects in progress.

Facilities
MARC has its own A/V production studio, green screen chroma facility, and dark room for BW photography. It also has a purpose-built exhibition and education space of 100sqm and a small, private outdoor courtyard. The building hosts the art & curatorial collective Chamber of Public Secrets’ photo, video and film archive, which is publicly accessible upon appointment and can be freely used for screening and educational purposes.

Location
Located at the heart of the Turkish city of Antalya, in the peaceful area of Isiklar (next door to the Danish and the Swedish consulates), MARC is less than 100m  from the rocky seaside, where a variety of restaurants and shopping possibilities are situated. Outside MARC are the known Antalya landmarks, Ramada and Cender hotels, where busses, trams and taxies are available around the clock, including a direct bus line to and from the airport, which is about 17 min away (13 km). At a short walking distance is the old Roman city of Kaleici. Shopping and cultural districts are also located around Kaleici – a great location for photography and filming shoots.
