MALDIVES PAVILION : THE BOOK
The book offers a range of geo-political positions and research-curatorial methodologies on climate change and their approaches to ecological romanticism. It aims to engage a readership further-reaching than the project’s immediate public.
HUMAN ENCYCLOPEDIA OF THE MALDIVES
The Maldives Pavilion promotes a human encyclopedism which has no equal in this Biennale and will be the guideline for the years to come. It deserves to win the Golden Lion for the best curatorial methodology.

The failure of nations to reach an agreement to curb carbon emissions has highlighted the huge gap between the scientific consensus and public perceptions of climate change and its effect on our planet.
LEAVE IT IN THE GROUND - FILM BY OLIVER RESSLER
Despite clear warnings, the ruling powers do not have a political agenda with a serious strategy to reduce use of fossil fuels, the main cause of global warming. A fossil-fuel fundamentalism seems to dominate throughout the globe.

The main task today is to combine the discussion of climate change with the discussion of a need of a change of the economic and political system.
A mobile moving‐image installation powered by renewable energy. The Amsterdam version of the installation is a DIY recycled machine. A five wheels bike for three people to move forwards or produce electricity. For Venice a customized and optimized version has been designed that suits the city architecture and it’s urban culture.
INTERVIEW WITH RAVI AGARWAL
We seem to have reduced nature to mean a few things such as a resource, a place to conquer, or even a landscape to be appreciated. However, even if we do not accept it, we live in a very complex relationship to the world outside of ourselves.
MALDIVES PAVILION : PRESS RELEASE
The history of artistic aesthetics of the Maldives is not widely documented, the archipelago is not known for its visual arts activities but rather for its most central aesthetical themes such as supreme beauty of the ocean, ecology and environment. CPS intends to treat the culture and nature of Maldives as our central subject, marking its importance through its ecology, and what it would mean for the islands to disappear.
Resonant Zenith, an eco-aesthetic and sculptural installation, provides a method of transforming live perception of water/shore interactions into a multi-faceted, reactive coaction. The dynamic physical elements of the installation’s environment, namely water washing onto beach shores, are mechanically transformed into a warning system for a consequential future.
INTERVIEW WITH EHSAN FARDJADNIYA

the politico-aesthetics of oil and water
Water has traditionally been associated with specific cultural or symbolic meanings, so it is hard to generalize the aesthetic dimension of this life-sustaining liquid. But oil is an entirely different case: it has literally propelled humanity into a different era of mobility and consumption.
CONTINGENT MOVEMENTS SYMPOSIUM
The Contingent Movements Symposium emerges from the Contingent Movements Archive, an online archival project that speculates on the contingent circumstances the low-lying island nation of the Maldives may face as global temperatures and sea levels rise. It is predicted that the country could be uninhabitable by the end of the 21st century.
If the earth beneath our feet could speak … Incompatible Elements re-presents the relationship between nature and culture by reconfiguring land as active rather than neutral, verbal rather than mute, and therefore able to comment directly on the impacts of climate change.
BIENNALE OF POETRY AND IRONY
Curator, art critic and long-term Tableau correspondent Jonathan Turner visits the 55th Venice Biennale, and reviews how the international world of contemporary art can still react in direct response to specific national issues.
PAUL MILLER AKA DJ SPOOKY
At this point in the 20th century, its becoming more and more clear that basically, data will be the main conduit for how human beings interpret the world around them. That’s not good or bad – its just the way it is.
The Maldives Pavilion has the pleasure to announce that the biennale team has been completed and we have found the curator assistants who will work with the members of Chamber of Public Secrets (CPS) and help building the Maldives Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.
CPS CURATES MALDIVES PAVILION
